Photo Tips: What to Send

Fifi’s ready for her closeup, Mr. DeMille…really close shots of your pet work best…close-ups of the face, close-ups of the whole pet…the biggest mistake people make is taking the shot too far away. Generally, I change the background. I’m not concerned with the background, only your pet. Get close.

The Eyes have it…Unfortunately, sometimes our pets eyes aren’t always at their best in photographs…that’s okay, I can deal with/fix that.. So, if you have a wonderful picture, except the eyes are wonkey…send it along, anyway. And speaking of eyes...

Shoot at eye level..Most people take shots looking down at their pets. While I can certainly work with this, getting down face to face with Fritzy, or setting Suzi on a table will yield much better results. Especially if your pet is Larry the lizard!

More, More, More…I’d rather you send me several pictures, instead of one or two. Variety of expression is nice…just because I’m painting your pet’s portrait doesn’t mean the picture you send me has to look like a mug shot.

And we’ll be having a discussion so you can tell me about your wonderful pet's personality. The best pictures really capture your pet's personality.

Do You Live in the Tampa Bay Area? ...If so, I can spend some time with you and your pets, and shoot the photos myself. There is an additional fee for this, but it’s reasonable.

Sometimes this is a better option than others. For instance, if your cat hides under the bed anytime a guest comes over, or your dog will be showing me a lot of teeth, but not in a smiling manner…this would not be the best option.

On the other hand, as you might imagine, I get along well with animals. For some animal families, having me visit and shoot is an additional treat in the whole special pet portrait experience.
